چکیده

Abstract Quantum key distribution (QKD) enables secure exchanges between two remote users. The ultimate goal of communication is to establish a global quantum network. existing field tests suggest that networks are feasible. To achieve practical network, we need overcome several challenges including realizing versatile topologies for large scales, simple network maintenance, extendable configuration and robustness node failures. this end, present operation metropolitan-area with 46 nodes show all these can be cutting-edge technologies. In particular, realize different topological structures continuously run the 31 months, by employing standard equipment maintenance an configuration. We QKD pairing management sophisticated control centre. implementation, final keys have been used such as real-time voice telephone, text messaging file transmission one-time pad encryption, which support 11 pairs users make audio calls simultaneously. Combined intercity backbone ground–satellite links, our metropolitan implementation paves way toward

Implementation of medium access control for interconnecting slotted rings to form a WDM metropolitan area network

A system of slotted interconnected rings employing a combination of wavelength-division multiple access (WDMA) with time-division multiple access (TDMA) can serve a metropolitan area without electro-optical conversion and buffering of payload except at system entry points. The multiple rings overcome the power budget limitations of the single ring extending the reach of the system to even the l...

Distributed Expertise: Remote Reference Service on a Metropolitan Area Network

What is the nature of reference work in the digital library? What is the role of the reference librarian where many users serve themselves by means of BIDS and other free at-point-of-use services which emulate the Bath original (e.g. MIDAS in Manchester and EDINA in Edinburgh)? How is the concept of the ‘reference desk’ to be defined where points of presence for both users and librarians are di...

A High-Speed Metropolitan Area Network Measurement Study

In this paper we present a high-speed measurement study of round-trip delays, and TCP throughput with various window sizes. The measurements using ping and ttcp are performed over 155 mbit OC-3 Packet over SONET MAN connections. In addition, short hop test results over zero, 1, and 2 layer 2 switched gigabit ethernet connections are presented. In general, FreeBSD was used for host testing. A fe...

A Two Level Optical Star WDM Metropolitan Area Network

In this paper, we propose a Metropolitan Area Network which is a two level optical star Network. The stations are grouped into clusters based on geographical proximity and communication demands. The stations within a cluster communicate using a local WDM star network and a station in one cluster communicates to a station in another cluster through a remote star in single hop. The multiwavelengt...

Mawson: a Metropolitan Area Wavelengh Switched Optical Network

We describe the architecture and design of an optical WDM ring network suited to local, campus and metropolitan area applications. The proposed architecture is flexible and robust, is compatible with existing local and metropolitan area network standards, has the potential for low-cost implementation and offers an elegant upgrade path to larger numbers of nodes and higher bit rates. We discuss ...
